Yes I wonder why the late marriage too.  There were 4 children born by then - Beatrice Maud born 1903 died 1905. 

They were young parents but most were in those days.  Father did remarry but some years later.

I have just been online and ordered the Family History where are they crystal ball. Will let everyone know all the answers we are seeking when it arrives. ;D

Whilst we await the magic crystal ball have ordered the marriage for Clara Maud Lester.
It may not tell us anything new but curious to see what is in the father’s box if nothing else.

I also found this Charles Lester entry last night for 17 July 1871
Admissions to Brookwood Asylum Woking
He is down as 43 married and a clerk
Can’t read his address 39 ?  Street Horsleydown

Don’t know if that is our Charles though as he was miles away for the census earlier that year  :-\
