Hi all,
Thanks for all your info. The death I had originally for Wm I must of typed 1830 instead of 1837 because the burial date was correct. I g**gled how to become a Surgeon in the 1830's and AI interestingly enough gave a few examples of apprenticeships, medical school, mentorship, etc. I'd be interested to know more about this.
I have had another thread about the children of William SHAW and Mary UNWIN. They had another son George baptised in 1817 (but born c1798), probably as an adult even though the register doesn't say so. He is my x3 gr grandfather and was also in the 'smith' trade.
I found a doc that read Mary Shaw, widow of Clowne and children were removed to Mansfield Notts in 1844. We know that Elizabeth Thompson was with the daughters Mary and Anne at The Seminary School in Worksop in 1841, and James was with the Malthouses.
I'll be following up all the other suggestions and the wills.
Many thanks.
