FRANKLIN and SELF, Gloucestershire Regt, 1921
« on: Wednesday 22 October 25 21:50 BST (UK) »
Help required !
I am trying to find the burial places of two young soldiers of the Gloucestershire Regiment who died in Ireland in 1921.
ALBERT EDWARD FRANKLIN, 5174836,  died on 14 May 1921 at the Military Hospital, Fermoy, Co Cork. Aged just 17 and the son of Charles H Franklin, he died from meningitis. Place of birth/home address not known.
JACK HOWARD SELF ,  5173599, died in an accidental shooting at Fermoy Barracks on 24 March 1921.  Aged 19, he is believed to have been born around Bristol.
My primary objective is to establish where these two young lads are buried. The lack of basic information is clearly a major obstacle. Were they buried in Ireland or were they brought back to the mainland for burial? Indeed, can anyone identify their places of birth.?
The two deaths are unrelated but the fact that they were both in the Gloucesters would suggest that they came from the area.
Any snippet of information, particularly death/obituary notices, would be gratefully received.

JH Self served in the Gloucestershire regiment but I can't see a birth reg.

In 1911 he is shown as a 9yr old boarder living with a 73yr old widow in Bristol & shown as b Bristol
