We know for definite from the 1892 Marriage Registration for John Owen Williams and Elizabeth/Elspeth Harris, William Williams is John Owen Williams Father, we know he was deceased (William Williams) Before 1892, 1891 John O is a Boarder at the residence of John and Esther Williams, (Esther is also from Tregaron Strangely) as we picked up, and we know he gave his birth as new quay in 1921 and Tregaron in 1911,1901 & 1891

But what is the definitive proof that we’ve gone through that suggests that this possible family are the correct family of John Owen, as we know it’s a common surname right? And their isn’t a birth reg for John with the second forename “Owen” so i’m just trying to be cautious 🙂 one mistake creates a rabbit hole for other relatives! So i try be as precise as i can

Kind Regards
Ashton

I quite agree with your views ashton, this may well not be the correct family but elimination is also part of good research.

Absolutely, this is the issue with Welsh Roots, the further back the common surname, the difficult the resources get! And than it becomes near enough impossible 🤣

If you're looking to trace wife Esther from 1891 census, it looks like she isn't the mother of the Idris & John jnr. 1881 shows John senr. as a widower

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2W9-8QNP?lang=en

possible marriage in 1889 registered Pontypridd to Esther Davies.

There's also an 1889 marriage registered Merthyr Tydfil to Esther Milkins but she was born in 1870.
