Hi, you're right about the signature which does appear as "M. Fridle" or similar. But the burgomaster or whoever wrote the document definitely wrote Fridman.  The other signature is one of the witnesses S. Para... but can't make out the rest.

And where I put [Sara] in brackets, based on your giving her name, it appears as "Sura".  I found a reference saying this was a variant of the name Sara.

JohninSussex. Thank you very much. My great great grandmother was Sara (Sura) Feldman. Maybe they got mixed up whilst writing the certificate.

Hi Marian, I had one more look at your document.
Firstly, the date of the document is 16th September not December.  So he was 6 months not 9 months late in registering.

And then, the words towards the end are something like "The lateness in declaration of the birth was due to the carelessness (neglect?) of the father".

The names of the witnesses aren't easy to interpret, one is M. Mangel and the second (who signed) is S. or Z. perhaps Parasol.
