Birth certification in old Russian
« on: Sunday 19 October 25 19:48 BST (UK) »
Hello again,

I have discovered a birth certification for my great grandmother.

She was born in Bedzin, Poland in the late 1800.

The certificate was written in old Russian and I wonder if anyone can translate it for me.

Unfortunately I cannot post the document as Rootschat says it is too large.

Can anyone also recommend an app which would allow me to reduce a photograph to the required size for this site.

Thank you!

I know very little of Russian cursive writing, but his name in this text is Mendel Friedman. The child's name is Chaja.
For the rest I can't help you.

Yes, sorry my mistake. She was born Chaja but when Prussia invaded Poland where she was born,  I understand all Jews had to be given Christian names. She was then called Helene.
I am sure her mother was Sara Feldman.

I cannot understand why the birth certification is in Russian though.

I cannot understand why the birth certification is in Russian tnough.

Some parts of Poland were 'Russian' during certain periods of time.

John I sussex!!! A very big Thank You!!

This site is invaluable for the help I have received from several very kind and talented people.

I look forward to reading the rest. 🤗
Just one thing, it seems that my great great grandfather's name was Mendel Friedler, as his signature seems to show.

On all the official documents I hold for her, she states her name is Friedler.
