On the 1891 Census Gavin Fleming, spirit dealer, is at No 40 Gateside.

In 1936 the PH was still a single property, but by 1962 it was numbered "48 to 44".

I had to look at the SP image: the Butter Burn Inn is listed between nos. 32 and 34 Gateside Street
