St Jude Hexthorpe Doncaster
« on: Wednesday 15 October 25 13:18 BST (UK) »
Hello, is there anyone that looks up marriages in Doncaster?  i have one in St Judes Hexthorpe in 1943.

A Dorothy May Humphrey married a John George Gosling/Gossling   there was also another Gosling marriage on the same day?

Do i need to order the certificate or can this be looked up,

Best wishes  Tim

The other marriage of Dennis Gossling to Miriam Kirton. I suspect his surname is actually Gosling. There is a Gosling/Kirton birth in Doncaster in 1944. He appears in 1939 war register with dob 1921.

SS

added, Miriam died 1998 Doncaster, Dennis died 2012 Doncaster.

Doncaster Archdeaconry PRs are on Findmypast, but Hexthorpe marriages are not in their list of registers available, probably because records start 1893.  Doncaster Archives holds Hexthorpe marriages to 1946.  See

Doncaster FHS may have a member who would check this for you.

The Kent & Sussex Courier, 2 Apr 1943 has a marriage notice of a Dorothy May Humphrey and a Jack Gosling- doesn't specify where.
It mentions her grandparents - surname Hendley. There's a birth reg for a Dorothy M Humphrey, 2nd Qtr 1925, Hailsham (Sussex), - mother's maiden name Hendley.

Possibility?

Note - cannot attach image of marriage notice, status of post does not cater for attachments.

I wondered about a possible death. A newspaper item popped up about a Gosling marrying in the early 50s, a former band singer etc and the right location - fitted Jack/John George.

I had found a Dorothy May Humphrey, birth registered 1925, that fitted the 1944 death.

Do you have any further details of newspaper article or deatils of marriage?
