Hi,

I think there is more than one Patrick and Mary MARKEY couple and they might be getting mixed up.

I think the family I found living in 41st Street in 1920 is the Patrick MARKEY/Mary MURPHY found by Neale1961. I can find births in New York for,

John  1888
Williiam 1890
Rose 1892
and Frederick MARKIE 1894

Maurice MARKEY b. 1903, New Jersey seems to belong to a different family.

The Manhattan, New York family can be found here,

1900    (Wife Mary is missing but Patrick says he is married)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSKQ-348?lang=en

1910    Indexed as MARKLEY
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M59S-FGJ?lang=en

1920    already given
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MJYD-6BV?lang=en

This Patrick dies in New York in 1925,

The Markey family in Bayonne New Jersey are there in 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940.

Regards,
Daisy

Daisypetal, Thanks for the clarification between the NY and NJ Markeys.

By noticing in the 1910 census that Patrick and Mary's oldest son Michael was born in Ireland, I was able to find Michael's 1884 civil birth registration in Kells, Meath. From there, I found Patrick and Mary's marriage registration in 1878, also in Kells, Meath.

I now have proximity -- the Markey/Murphy family was in the area where Matthew Lynch came from. But I haven't yet identified the actual connection. I'll leave that to the side for now.

I am waiting for the death certificate from Nottinghamshire in the hopes that it will confirm or reject the premise that Matthew Lynch is the one I am looking for.

No, I hadn't noticed the detail of son Michael being in Ireland until this evening. Once I realized that, I looked up the civil birth registration and found that the Markey and Lynch families were within a reasonable distance of each other in Meath.

I missed that opportunity to understand the Kells connection earlier. I rushed over that part in the moment and meant to get back to it later. Lesson learned to slow down and read all the documents and everything on the documents.
