About the ironing- reminds me of the last couple of visits we did to the backlands of NSW to visit the family. Off grid for electricity and water and relying on solar panels and batteries for power, Jane had to be very careful when she embarked on an ironing spree in case she ran out of power! rj

Well,I suppose  in the back of my mind is the thought that I  could become suddenly very ill, even with the pacemaker and I have a horror of that happening when I am not all neat and tidy but to be really sensible the likelihood of me tidying up is not a safeguard in fact probably could be the cause of another heart attack.!
I will moderate how much I do but honestly it is really only light housework .
Many hospitals keep people in for a couple of days ,here it is a few hours.

Well I got all the answers to the 100% club to the ninth ,then my son phoned to check on me ,so did not see the ninth, however I would not have got the last one at all.

Well thanks again ,you are all most kind .
Viktoria.

Another dull day here, with the occasional bit of sunshine.  We are off to the surgery in a moment for our Covid and flu jabs, then I am singing in a concert ("Choirs and Cake") in aid of a very poor Kenyan township which the church here supports.  The money usually goes to the township schools and buys the schoolchildren clothing and books, etc.
Tomorrow a mad dash round the house in preparation for visiting relatives, who are coming for a "light lunch".  There will be a Greek salad with fried feta cheese (thanks, Leon's salad book) followed by Dorset apple cake with whipped cream.  There are so many houses in the village with boxes of apples for people to help themselves free and our Community Orchard is full of fruit there for the picking.  Our neighbour has so many pears on his trees which he has left unpicked.  They will just fall to the ground and feed the birds and insects, I suppose.

It got light earlier this morning than on the last few days. Sunny here at the moment but a dark cloud to  the west looks ominous, hopefully it will only bring a shower.

Sainsbury’s delivery due shortly, extra items (rare treats) as son coming for a couple of days. I will keep him busy with a few odd jobs and trips to the recycling centre, I am gradually decluttering.

Someone coming from the Surgery on Monday to give me my Covid and flu jabs. I don’t know how I stand the excitement!!! ;D

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Just made the first apple sauce for the freezer ,windfalls and quite small yet but are now simmering gently after four minutes in the  pressure cooker as a bit too runny .
I freeze it in small batches ,but some kept especially for Christmas.

Smoke alarm playing up ,probably needs a new battery, I thought I had not
“ docked “ the lift at a power place.
I looked it up and seemingly when an alarm needs a new battery it will bleep especially as the temperature drops in the night.
Son will sort for me.

A very easy evening meal, cheese cakes ,ie mashed potato mixed with strong cheese ,floured and fried .I like them with baked beans .
I get the little pots.
Than a yoghurt .
1% Club on again ,I doubt the questions will be as answerable by me again tonight.
I don’t do too badly but seldom get almost to the end ,in fact the time I mentioned is the first time I have got so near the end .
I might not have got the ninth question and certainly not the final crucial one.

Well must check on the apple sauce .
Thanks for your very kind concern .I do appreciate it.

Cheerio. Look after yourselves ,I know many have more challenging health issues than I.
Viktoria.

Quentin Crisp stated that the dust didn't get any deeper after 4 years, Viktoria, so you can safely leave it until your specialist says you can bomb round as normal. We're mostly worried because you're not really giving yourself a chance to adapt. And, sorry - but with 3 sons, don't care how many computer meetings, one of them could organise a cleaner, even if they can't do it for you!
REST ! Relax!

Oh, I remember him, didn’t he lick his plates clean?

I have two sons,  one is 68, the second 66 ,my daughter is 58, down in Suffolk.Flash Harry,Kyra and Lily’s Grandma.
The house gets more untidy than dirty really.
The eldest is in Bolton but comes regularly and phones most days ,he does all the rigmarole necessary to keep my Belgian pension as he is still fluent in Flemish .I can ask anything of him as he took early retirement and likes to keep, busy. He comes regularly and phones most days .
Second one is 66, the one not yet retired and tied to the computers .
He too will take me shopping when he has a “ window “ and can leave the computers.Does little jobs for me but is not as free as his brother but takes me shopping or goes himself .
Daughter is of course running a business  and  down in Suffolk with a lot of staff to manage and look after.
I try not to ask when I can manage,I must keep going .
No one at the Heart clinic or after the pacemaker has advised me to get more help ,directions yes re lifting ,pushing, arm raising ,bathing safely yes, but nothing about day to day chores .
I do use a lighter carpet cleaner, don’t carry heavy loads ,have not done any heavy washing re hanging up and pulling the washing out of the washer etc.
I rest when I feel tired and as long as the house is tidy it really doesn’t take much more as yet but of course I had done the usual cleaning before the pacemaker.
If I feel tired I do lie down ,usully watching T.V.

I don’t know how people who really are alone are expected to manage, advice varies too,one leaflet says not to lift your left arm ,another says both arms, so no hair brushing ,getting stuff off shelves etc, very hard to know exactly what is O.K.
Pain is getting better so no more Paracetamol tablets,I only took one at a time anyway .At the moment no pain at all.
I have a telephone appointment on October23rd,so will get to know more then .
I thank you all very much for your kind concern ,perhaps I am doing too much but with only the advice on NHS leaflets not to push or pull or lift heavy objects ,don’t lift your left arm above your shoulder , that leaves quite a bit you can do.I am being guided by how I feel and your kind advice.
Otherwise I would do too much I know.

Has anyone else had the procedure and managed alone?
It must be quite difficult being completely alone.
I was never asked about my home conditions etc but it is in my records that one son in Bolton the other here / next door but  mostly working from home but not free to leave that work,as much depends on international time zones as to when they can all confer.

Well, the 1% Clubsoon so pots to wash,I ate late, then relax.
Cheerio and many many thanks for your kind concern ,it is appreciated.
Viktoria,

Well only five more weeks to go!

It funny you should mention  Quentin Crisp TY, I remember Quentin and the dust in his place, I think I would never stop sneezing if I Lived like that, I could sneeze for England if it was an Olympic sports it is. Join Hurt was very good when he played Quentin in the story of his life

Viktoria I know how hard it is when you are told not to do certain things, it’s frustrating when you go to do something and have to stop when you realise you can’t for the time being. At least you know it’s only a temporary hiccup so don’t worry about the house. When I had a hole in the macular I was told  I had to sit with my head leaning  forwards  resting on my folded arms, I could only be upright for ten minutes at a time, that was for two weeks. I couldn’t read or watch TV only listen to the radio, getting meals was a nightmare, everything else had to be left undone.

Ooooo,! I think that is much worse - glad it was only a fortnight but it would seem a long time to you at the time !
Well, did not do so well with the 1% Club this evening ,serves me right for mentioning I did reasonably well last time!
I was wondering if other Rootschatters found it interesting .

Well a milky de caf coffee ,two chocolate Hob Nobs, teeth cleaned and bed .
Reading a difficult book , about John of Gaunt ——too many characters already ,I keep having to go to the front again!

Well Goodnight again folks and thanks .
Viktoria.
