Pro Tools is not that useful for non DNA tasks.
This June 2025 video goes though the current version but the DNA section is small.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cPW7dGdkCsThere are two DNA tools that are useful.
Here Dana Leeds (yes the Dana Leeds) explains clusters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg2RTuaU5mwThe single most useful Pro Tools feature is the Enhanced Shared Tools, here Dana Leeds explains about them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP6X1Fg7GcEIf one is considering subscribing if you are willing to take my advice then do watch these Tutorial Videos and get yourself a Game Plan on how you are going to use Pro Tools.
As many of you are aware I am a strong advocate of using DNA and my Family Tree is now about 10,000 strong and I have well over 20,000 DNA Matches.
With all my 20cM and higher DNA shared matches assigned to coloured Groups 1 to 6, one for each Great Grandparent (where possible that is). The Enhanced DNA Matches were very helpful in assigning a Match to appropriate Groups.
The Clusters were also very useful.
Now a very important Tip, take plenty of Screenshots and catalogue them. That way you will still see the data when you have ended the Subscription.
I found that Subscribing for two months was more than enough time to run though my own matches plus the DNA matches of four other family members where three of the four have a Half relationship with me.
With a Game Plan a single month’s subscription should be worthwhile but the caveat being, if you have not taken an Ancestry DNA test the usefulness of Pro Tools is IMO minimal.
