FINLAND, Sjoblad
« on: Wednesday 08 October 25 12:31 BST (UK) »
Hoping for a little help, i have unexpectedly come across someone who lived in EUROJOKI, Finland.
Michel Mattss Sjoblad born 1811 (location unknown) he died in 1868, Eurojoki. His wife was named Clara (no other details on her) and they had a son:
Charles Michael Sealeaf (also spelled Sealiff) born 1834 (Finland, but exact location unknown) his wife was Johanna Breen who was born 1845 in Wexford, Ireland and they married in 1862 Liverpool, England.

Could someone tell me where i could look and find the marriage of Michel and Clara and the birth location of their son Charles, as I'm unfamiliar with Finnish records.
Thank you

There is no Johanna Breen marriage to that name in Liverpool in 1862.  Where have you got the info from

Do you have any census details?  Who were their children?

Why does Charles have a different surname to Michael?

sorry, the surname is spelt different on some records for Johanna, Brain.

Marriage is February 1862, St Patrick, Liverpool.

Im unsure on the change of surname, im assuming they went with a more english sounding name when they emigrated to the UK?
Charles and Johanna's son is:
Charles Michael Sealeaf born 1868, Bootle, Liverpool and he married Mary Ann Cranny

You can search Finnish parish records here:

https://hiski.genealogia.fi/hiski/29ql2m?en

Eurajoki is in region No. 4, Satakunta. Search for Sjöblad - ö and o are treated as different letters.
Mead - Herts, Bucks, Essex
Pontifex - Bucks
Goldhurst - London, Middx, Herts
Kellogg/Kelhog - Essex, Cambs

Marriage entry shows him as Michael - not Charles?

Brain    Johanna        W. Derby    8b   617
Sealiff    Michael         West Derby    8b   617

Another spelling of Johanna's surname

SEALEAF, CHARLES  MICHAEL      mmn BREEN
GRO Reference: 1868  J Quarter in LIVERPOOL  Volume 08B  Page 149

Where do this family fit into your family history & where are they in 1871?

Have you looked at the 1891 entry - birthplace Sweden??

Both the 1891 & 1901 UK census record Charles birthplace as SWEDEN.

Suspect they are in Ireland for 1871 census as son John Joseph born there in 1872.

I didn't find a christening for Charles/Karl, but here is a possible lead.
Sjöman (sailor) Michel Sjöblad and his wife Clara had a daughter Clara Sofia in 1831 in Kristinestad (region 15, Ostrobothnia, just north of Satakunta)

Kristinestads stadsförs - Kristiinankaupungin ksrk - christened
Years 1825 - 1840
Father's last name: SJÖBLAD => Sjöblad
Born   Christened   Village   Farm   Father   Mother   Child
*16.9.1831   17.9.1831           Sjöm:n Michel Sjöblad   Clara   24   Clara Sofia
Mead - Herts, Bucks, Essex
Pontifex - Bucks
Goldhurst - London, Middx, Herts
Kellogg/Kelhog - Essex, Cambs
