Ages on Indexes (Deaths)

Please can anyone help me with a question about ages on Indexes of Death - GRO and FreeBMD?

I have an entry for an 'Unknown Male' which appears on GRO as '0', and as blank on FreeBMD.

Death ages on Free BMD don't appear before a certain date if that explains it.

Can you search for unknown male on Free BMD?  Haven't tried that before.

Age at death begins 1866 in FreeBMD, because it starts in the old indexes then.

Thanks for all your of replies.

I remember now that the early indexes don't include ages. I suppose that I was hoping to get an adult rather than a baby! (Sometimes GRO gets it wrong).

The year in question is 1852.
         
Both sites accept Unknown instead of the Surname.
