Thanks for the link Osprey.  Thats very handy as I've just recently started researching the Fenwick line from that area, so I'm still learning about the area.

FindMyPast has two transcripts - one stand alone and one associated with an image.
The stand alone transcript reads - "Residence - Burneston, York; Place - Burneston"

The transcript against the image reads "Baptism Place - Burneston; Denomination - Anglican" - no mention of Abode/Residence. The image reads " ... of Calthorp"

The first page of the register reads "Register of baptisms and Burials in the Parish of Burneston from the year 1764"

I have family from Carthorpe and baptisms were at Burneston as no Anglican church there, only a Methodist Church.

I saw your reply and thought I would post this. You are probably aware of it but just in case.

For some time, I don't know how long, Methodists baptized their children in the Established church. I have ancestors who helped found the Methodists in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, US, but many of their children were baptized in the local Lutheran church. It took me a while and some research on the early history of Methodism to figure it all out. This was in the early 1800's.

So your family might not necessarily be Anglican, just because of those baptisms.
