Ty’n Lon Gyrn Goch- Clynnog Parish
« on: Friday 03 October 25 11:50 BST (UK) »
hi, I’m trying to unpick a family. Hopefully someone can help.

I have a newspaper record of a funeral where attendees are listed.

I’ve worked out most. One is Morris Jones of Ty’n Lon Gyrn Goch in the parish of Clynnog. His name is alongside a L Griifith of Gyrn Goch who I know was the grandchild of the deceased. I therefore believe that Morris Jones is a distant relation in some way.

The funeral was in 1838 therefore the 1839 register is where I started.

Morris Jones appears here as a Widower living with Margery Pritchard also a Widow and Ellen her daughter:

Morris jones born 14 nov 1867
margery pritchard 3 march 1882
ellen Pritchard 18 dec 1919

I believe Morris Jones appears in the 1911 census with his wife Jane (born Clynnog) and child Humphrey as a quarry setts maker in Trevor (llanaelhaiarn parish). I’ve failed to find him in 1921.

The margery Pritchard was formerly jones, the 1911 census says she was born in Clynnog. Her birth record says that her mother’s maiden name was jane williams.

I’ve tried to create a tree in ancestry for this family but I’ve worked myself into a knot, I think.

I’m working on a theory that Morris’s wife, Jane jones, was margery pritchard’s sister.  I’ve found a family that fits in capel uchaf clynnog (clynnog parish).  Their mother Jane jones ( nee williams) has her sister living with her. Both sisters born Llanfihangel. The only home in llanfihangel with a Jane and margaret williams of the correct age is a farm callled Rhwngyddwyafon( Rhwng y ddwy afon).

The problem is, this family appear in T ceiri Griffith’s pedigree book with different families. I must have taken a wrong turn or T ceiri Griffith (!)has.

Try searching in Llanaelhaiarn in 1921  - search John Ellis Jones c1904

thanks, Yes, that’s him in 1921. I’ve found a record that says Humphrey his son was disabled in some way and probably died in 1914.

The newspaper record of 1938 says Morris Jones and family ty’n lon. This means that he’s not just lodging with Margery Pritchard. It’s likely that she was at the funeral too.

Morris Jones died in 1941 and buried in capel uchaf cemetery.

Margery Pritchard is also buried there.

I’ll visit tomorrow. There may be clues.

Before Morris Jones is L griffiths gyrn goch. This is the deceased’s grand-daughter. The John williams after, is the deceased’s son in law.

This is why I think this family is a relation.

I can understand your logic  :)

Hopefully there will be headstones that will answer your questions.  There do not appear to be many on findagrave for that cemetery

There’s two find-a-graves for that cemetery. One empty page and one with 89 memorials. They’re not included.

It’s not a big cemetery. It should be fairly easy to find them.
