Agnes Mafis m. William Evans 1713 Plymouth St. Andrew
« on: Thursday 02 October 25 17:04 BST (UK) »
Trying to find any information about Agnes Mafis:

WILLIAM EVANS m. AGNES MAFIS 1 JAN 1713 PLYMOUTH ST. ANDREW

I have found these children:

WILLIAM MASON 14 FEB 1719 PLYMOUTH
ALEXANDER MASON 14 OCT 1722 PLYMOUTH

Wondering if Mafis might be Mathis, or perhaps a foreign name? Can't find a birth or parentage anywhere. Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks.

The register images on FindMyPast are not mentioning Mason on either of those baptisms  :-\

Sorry, rosie99, my mistake. The surname should be EVANS for both children.
Working on several lines at once and confused the names!

Without seeing the original image, I wonder if the name might be MOSES or similar, with the "f" being mis-transcribed?

Sorry I cannot post an image but I was trying to compare letters with others on the page.

The Ma were the same as those in Mary in an entry below, the i was also the same as others on the page.  The f could be an f but I did not find another to compare.  The s could be anything, it did not look like other s that were on the end of a word.

Thanks rosie99, that's enormously helpful that you've seen the actual image. At least I now know 3 of the letters, so narrows the search down considerably.
