Ellen and Patrick Culbert of Bray / Wicklow
« on: Monday 29 September 25 17:05 BST (UK) »
    Hi there,

I've been looking into my family history and I'm currently researching a particular family member, my great grandmother's sister. She is buried with my great great grandmother in St Peter's Cemetery in Bray.

She would have been born as Ellen Dowling in 1916 to parents Ellen Dowling (nee Kavanagh) and Thomas Dowling in Back Street, Bray (
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view/?record_id=ac592530e4-750050).

She then went on to live with her mother Ellen in 19 Wolfe Tone Square South.

She married a Patrick Culbert (sometimes written as Coulbert) in 1940 (https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view/?record_id=cima-1473870).

She died 2 years later in late 1942 at 25 years of age (https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view/?record_id=cide-2214368).

They had a son Thomas Joseph who died soon after in 1943 at 8 months of age (https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view/?record_id=cide-2283621), meaning he was born in 1942. I can't access birth records for 1942 to find out where he was born etc.

I found a potential lead online (https://culbert.one-name.net/familychart.php?familyID=F7871&tree=Culbert) which shows that she had another child before this, presumably in 1941 but there's no concrete source etc so it could be incorrect.

I checked local newspapers around the time she and her baby died and couldn't find a mention.[/li][/list]

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Aor, I am sorry but I have had to remove the last paragraph as you were requesting information for folk who are most likely alive and well which is against our rules.

Regards

Sarah

Family Search has indexes
https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/1408347

There is a possible child in 1941 if you search there.

If you are using Ancestry, the index is also there.
