Oh I hadnt come across that before. That is interesting. Would confirm him not really knowing his ages across the census!

I am not convinced that the fact he was illegitimate would affect him not knowing how old he was  :)

A possible: St Mary Parish Register Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire
Burial: Benjamin Evans . 02 Jul 1877. 76 = 1811

Id seen that previously. Gives abode as Rhosmarket. Rosemarket possibly?

There is a Benjamin Evans age 66 with a wife Mary in Rosemarket in 1871, possibly him  :-\
