Forrest/Forrester

Hello all
I wonder if anyone can suggest ways to solve this puzzle, if there are any that I haven't already thought of.
My 5 x great grandparents John Anderson and Agnes Forrest had five children (who I have found) in Haddington.

John 1772 (my direct ancestor)
Margaret 1773
James 1775
Alexander 1777
Robert 1779

I think I have John b. 1748 in Garvald but have never found a marriage for John and Agnes nor any birth or baptism for her. After leaving it on the back burner for a while, I returned to the puzzle and thinking outside the box decided to look for Forrest/Forresters in Garvald.  Going by the naming tradition, Agnes's parents should in theory be James and Margaret.  And yes, there is a couple James and Margaret having children in the right timescale (though no Agnes among them).  The problem is that they are James Davidson and Margaret Forrest.  The baptism records of the Anderson children all confirm that their mother was Agnes Forrest.   
I've looked all over Scotland and tried all sorts of name variations but can't get anywhere. 
Can anyone suggest where I could look?

Can anyone suggest where I could look? 

If you have exhausted the possibilities on Scotland's People, then realistically there almost certainly isn't anywhere else, certainly not online, and it is very probable that the marriage record, if it ever existed, has not survived.

Also, a possible baptism on its own is not certain to be the right one because so many records have not survived and there could well be another John Anderson and/or Agn*s For*s*t* whose baptism records are also missing from the surviving records.

I have to assume that the family Davidson-Forrest in Garvald is just a coincidence.

Here's what I have for the Anderson baptisms.

John  (my ancestor) bapt. 22/3/1772 son of John and Agnis (Foster), witnesses Richard and James Anderson
Margaret  bapt. 47/7/1773 (MMN Forrester), witnesses James and Richard Anderson
James bapt. 20/8/1775 (MMN Foster), witnesses Richard and James Anderson
Alexander bapt. 16/5/1777 (MMN Foster), witnesses Richard and James Anderson
Robert bapt. 22/8/1779 (MMN Foster), witnesses Richard and James Anderson

And now here's a real fly in the works.
I also have an earlier baptism.
Richard Anderson bapt. 7/1/1770, parents Richard Anderson and Agnis Forrester 
I  can find no record for a Richard which could fit, either.  This Richard would likely be a brother or the father of John. The more I look at this, the more confused I get!

The same records appear on Freereg but I always check the original records where possible. Is there any possibility that the records on SP show any sort of error for Richard and Margaret or is there any information in the Kirk Session Records?
