Hello,
Just to ask what other sites I can search if Scotland's People has nothing.
We have some family knowledge of an Allan Thornton being imprisoned for a spell , we believe probably in his younger years, no idea what for or for how long. Ayrshire?
Born 12/6/1884 in Doonside, Maybole, married 20/11/1904 in Blackfriars, Glasgow
Working as a ploughman in 1901 in Pottersbar ?

Yes tried some local paper with no luck.

Sorry,  not aware of any free resources but the Scottish indexes as posted by others is the only place I know of to get his prison record details.

It only costs £5 so not expensive. Hardly the price of a coffee and a piece of cake these days.
