Ancestry Member Search problem
« on: Tuesday 23 September 25 19:30 BST (UK) »
Sorry if this is not the place to post this issue. I contacted Ancestry about the problem without success (on the phone where the person told me I was incorrect and using Leif). I have a cousin in a different country is also experiencing the same thing (she is the one that noticed).

Normally I can log into Ancestry and search members by typing in their name as described below often finding many pages of members.

On the Home page I go across to Search and select Member Search from the list, enter a first name space and a last name (or just the last name) and depending on the name get several pages of results to go through.

Today, whatever I search (e.g. John Smith, or just Smith, Davis, Templeton) it looks like I only get the first 20 results when, depending on the search, there should be many more.

I have cleared my cache, logged out and logged back in and totally shut down my computer.

Is this happening to anyone else or does anyone know how to get an issue looked at using technical support other than what I tried? Thanks for any suggestions.

I see the same but I only see 10 results no matter who I search for.

Is it set for ten results per page? If you change it to twenty you might get another ten.

Thanks for trying it Alan b and confirming what I see.  It makes me wonder if Ancestry is updating something in Member search in the background.

Thanks for trying it Alan b and confirming what I see.

Alan didn't confirm what you see though. He made it worse by only getting 10 results.

Just checked and yes, same issue....only returning 10 and saying 1-10 of 10, although if you select 20 per page from drop down option, it then changes to 1-20 of 20, for name that should have far more. It was working fine for me at the weekend.

I had another chat with Ancestry and they said Members Search using "real time indexing" and fuzzy matching but would not say when the change was made but recently. I should be able to find my person using their display name. I cannot but I will leave it at that.

It might be worth trying your search again, as the facility seems to be working fine again today.
