Can anyone translate the mothers maiden name on entry 238 on the attached?
For info, the child is Christina, the father is William Mullan (transcribed as Mullen), the mother is Mary
?
Also the profession of the father?

Possibly Walshe and I think he is a ‘Smith’.

Agree with Smith as a possibility
I wondered about Halslee/Halsley (if the stroke of the y went horizontal)
Added…but looking again the lead letter is very like the W of William.
Can’t find an H to compare.

I saw "Halslee" also. Are there any other people in the area in that timeframe with that name?
