Gerald was alive in 1939, he was killed in 1999 in  road accident, there are newspaper reports online.

What is your connection to the family?  If you check freebmd there are very few Christopher Fitzgerald births in Lily’s age range

If you are descended from one of the Fitzgerald children -  have you done a DNA test to establish the possibility of him being Irish?  If you check the Irish 1911 you will find a number in the right age group.

Another angle is to try & obtain a copy of the divorce petition in case it gives more info but I don’t know whether that is possible
