I thought I would post this on the Devon page as a familiarity with place names might be more helpful than ease of reading old handwriting.
The place I am trying to discover is circled in yellow in the accompanying photo.
It has been transcribed at Southminster, which is in Essex not Devon and I really don’t think it looks like that. The only Devon place name with South that I can think of, apart from South Hams, is South Milton.
Does anyone have any thoughts please?
