I can read that the person was a Horse Driver for Public Works but not the word I have circled in yellow? Can anyone help?

Possibly "Carrier"  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

I also think it might be carrier.

You can see that it’s in different handwriting to the rest of the census page form - its been added at a later date by someone classifying occupations for statistical purposes.
