James Anderson and Jane Lorimer
« on: Wednesday 10 September 25 10:05 BST (UK) »
Good morning everyone :)

I am looking into my Great x4 Grandparents James Anderson & Jane Lorimer. They are the parents to my Great x3 Grandfather Thomas Anderson. I can not seem to find pretty much anything about them, I was never able to find a Birth/Baptism record for Thomas, but he was born around 1851. in 1872 Thomas Married Mary Jane Morrison in Aberdeen in a Church of Scotland ceremony, and parents was listed as James Anderson (Shoemaker) and Jane Lorimer, neither parents is listed as "Deceased". In 1907 Thomas died in Dundee, and parents are listed as James Anderson "Ship Yard Labourer" and Jane Lorimer, both listed as "Deceased". I have no record of either ones Birth, Death, or marriage record, attached I have what I believe to be Thomas in the 1851 Census in Aberdeen, where James Anderson (Father) is not listed, but Jean Lorimer to me seems like it could be Jane Lorimer. I did see that someone had listed the mother of Jane Lorimer to be "Mary" on Ancestry, which would also match with that census, I do see that it says Jean is unmarried in the census, but there are 2 Anderson boys listed as being "Grandsons" to Mary.

Kind regards,
Jake

This is the 1851 census

The one you have posted above must be 1861?

If Thomas is 2 in 1851, he was born about 1849.

I think you mean 1861 Census?

1851 we have;
Jean Anderson 37 Head Weavers Wife born    St Andrews, fifeshire
James Anderson  8 Son
John Anderson 5 Son
Thomas Anderson 2 Son
Mary Lorimer 55 Lodger
Elizabeth Lorimer 19 Daur Lodger (Lodger)

1881 Jane Anderson is with Son Thomas and Family so doesnt appear to be deceased.

I also see James Jnr married the lodger in 1871 Census

I did notice in 1841 Census;
Jane Lorimer 20 Servant in the Skine household
Address Kinbet
Civil parish Turriff
County   Aberdeenshire

Not much help sorry

Jane Anderson 72  Old Machar Aberdeen 186/2/71 mmn Callum
