Hi, I’m trying to find a marriage for John Machell of Battleburgh and Barbary Emmerson of Battleburgh, Appleby.
Barbary was the daughter of William Emmerson of Battleburgh. He left a will, dated 1663, mentioning her as his daughter, Barbary Machell. I can’t find a baptism for her. She was buried 24 Jan 1700 in Appleby.
I can’t find a baptism (or a burial) for John Machell either. But he left a will dated 1655, proved 1656.
I assume they were married about 1646, when Anne, their first child was baptised. Their second child Philip was baptised in 1647. Both were baptised in Appleby—but since I can’t find a marriage for their parents, I’m not sure if they were the first children.
Any help with finding their marriage (and maybe their baptisms), would be really appreciated!
