Morning  folks
It is a still morning apart from the wretched dog next door.

Had a few minutes of rain but it cleared up quickly and the sun is out.

Hope everyone is chipper this morning.

Sun is out here; makes a change from forecasts of thunderstorms!
Which never happened :D

I go to the local Yacht Club every Sunday.
But as it was Manx Grand Prix last week (Motorbike racing) the club was open every evening for food.
So I was there every night. ;D

Monday - scampi.
Tuesday - Chicken burger.
Wednesday - mixed grill (steak, Gammon steak, pork chop, lamb leg steak, pork sausage, and black pudding!)
Thursday - homemade lasagne
Friday - rib eye.

A mixed weather day here,quite cool .

Daughter phones this evening ,so can tell her re the Paceemaker..
Mixed weather and washing on line then on maiden —— ::)

Reading a Linda La Plante - Jane Tennyson murder  mystery story.
Prime Suspect? Helen Mirren played her I seem  to remember.
Quite good bedtime reading.

Cold chicken for tea, not sure what veges yet, or chips and salad.
Got some ironing to do, but more washing yet to do so may wait to do that as I have only one maiden , in case it rains again tomorrow.

First day back at school, I used to love it ,the Reception class did half days with half the class morning for one week then the other half afternoons, next
week a swap over so they were used to each  time of day ,then full weeks with either school dinner or packed lunches .
They settled very well., considering many were only just four.Aaaaaw!
Well the system was flawed really one child was five the day after they started school, another in that class was four on August 31st! So 364 days between them ,that is a lot!
25% of the little one’s life —- it is not so much learning ability but emotional maturity .
Like 16 and 20, only more so given they are so young.

Well must get on with what I do not know, :-\
Thanks for the kind encouragement ,it is much appreciated.
Viktoria.

It was a nice sunny morning here, then turned a bit damp before turning into a lovely sunny and  warm afternoon. The gardener came so the garden looks neat and tidy again. Ten days ago I had the rotting summer house demolished and removed, now I need a couple of shrubs to fill in a gap left in the corner. I just wish I could get out and explore the garden centre for something interesting.
.
Had an enjoyable afternoon with a visit from two classmates from my long ago school days. One lives locally (there are only three of us left in the area) the other is over from Utah. Lots to talk  and reminiscing, I don't know where the years have gone. ???

Keep well all of you undergoing medical procedures. Daughter in law has Covid, it’s the first time any of the family have tested positive. Luckily that half of the family live too far away to visit very often so no fear of them passing it on to me.

It is said quite frequently that this year is the hottest on record, but I remember 1976 was for at least three months constant burning sunshine .
Our furniture was outside - whilst we ripped out home made difficult kitchen
furniture and decorated the house we had bought on our return from Belgium - for weeks .
There were fires in the shrubbery opposite our house ,we were often out throwing buckets of water on them .
There have been hot days this year, but not for weeks and months without  rain .
Lots of ironing today ,all holiday clothes .
I don’t leave washing -as far as possible ,when I go away.

Well no real news , look after yourselves folks .
Cheerio.
Viktoria.

The heat in 1976 seemed never ending,. We had moved back to England the previous year. We had moved into a new build  and planted a lot of young shrubs  in the garden, I remember having to water them early morning and late at trying to keep them going through the  heat? We had to keep our windows closed to  keep out the smoke and smuts from the wild fires in the New Forest.

Our eldest son had just gone into the Army and my mother offered to  move in and look after our younger son so that  my Husband and I could  have our first holiday without the boys in tow. We set off for Wales with our caravan,  I think that was what broke the heatwave. On arriving at the camp site we had just unhitched the caravan when the rain came. I remember everyone rushed out into the open and just stood and let the rain soak us, it was such a relief but quite a funny sight.  It hasn’t  seemed to be that hot this year.
