Coxhead St Lawrence Reading
« on: Saturday 30 August 25 19:36 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Would anyone be able to check the marriage of William Coxhead to Ann Newbery on 25 July 1826 in St Laurence, Reading? I'd like to know if it lists either of their parents and I'm having difficulty tracing any baptism records and parentage for them.

Many thanks!

Jess

Marriages prior to 1.7.1837 do not include fathers names.  Mothers names are never shown on English or Welsh marriage entries

Hi,

There is a William Coxhead bapt. 26-12-1799 in Reading St.Lawrence (s/o John & Mary) on Ancy.
Does this seem the one?

There is also a marriage of John Coxhead to a Mary Smith  18-2-1793 in Reading St.Giles - not sure if these are the parents of William.

ah of course thank you- I've not done any research for quite a while and forgot that was the case pre 1837!

Thank you for looking! I'm not sure as the censuses estimate his birth to be closer to 1806. I've now found a baptism record for a James Coxhead on 6 Jan 1807 St Lawrence Reading, son of Charles and Martha which could be him- doesn't list have William in the name though (and I have him as William James Coxhead) so not completely sure

EDIT: also found William baptised 25 Apr 1810 son of Charles and Martha think this might be the one. The censuses list his year of birth as 1808, 1811 and 1806

The name George seems to be important to William and his wife Ann.

George 1827  died 1827
George 1829  possible death 1834 age 6
David 1832
Maria 1834
Mary Anne 1835
William 1836
Frederic  1838
Caroline 1840
Thomas 1842
Esther 1845
John  1847  possible death 1849 age 1

Is George a grand father?

Is George William's father s name if they followed naming patterns.
If they did then David is her father's name as second son
Third son being William named after his father.
