Hello,

I’m trying to trace my great-granduncle Patrick Kavanagh, born 14 February 1869 at Burton Hall, Murphystown, Dublin. He was the son of James Kavanagh (Gardener/Farmer) and Catherine (née Kavanagh).

His sister Mary Ann died in Dublin in January 1890, with Patrick recorded as informant and resident at 158 Townsend Street. Family tradition is that Patrick went to Liverpool soon afterwards.

🗂 Research Timeline: Patrick Kavanagh (1869–?)

14 Feb 1869 – Born Burton Hall, Murphystown, Co. Dublin son of James Kavanagh, and Catherine Kavanagh.

21 Jan 1890 – Sister Mary Ann dies at 158 Townsend Street, Dublin; Patrick (≈20) present at death, residence also given as 158 Townsend St.

10 Oct 1894 – Sister Catherine (“Kit”) dies at Bolinrush, Wexford; brother Felix present (suggests Patrick absent by then).

Family tradition – Patrick emigrated to the UK, likely Liverpool, in the 1890s.

Possible fate – May have died in Liverpool before 1911.

Current research gap: I’m looking for him in the 1891 census (likely Liverpool/Birkenhead, possibly Manchester/Salford or London dock districts), and for any sign of him in local death indexes or Catholic parish registers after 1890.

If anyone with access to the 1891 census (Liverpool/Birkenhead/Manchester), LancashireBMD death indexes, or the Ford/Yew Tree Catholic burial registers could check for Patrick Kavanagh (born Dublin 1869, son of James, labourer), I’d be hugely grateful. Any sighting, even as a boarder or a death entry, could be the missing link in connecting his story after 1890.

Many thanks in advance,
John
