I presume you do not have the marriage certificate of Francis Graham to mary Ann Coleman, naming his father and occupation.

Francis is in Wallsend in 1891 census aged 24.

Yes have the marriage certificate and all the England census including 1911. On the certificate his father occupation is general labourer called Patrick.

I would like to try to confirm these are my family find out what happened to them. What is known about this institution and is there any way of finding out? 

You can find out quite a bit about the Convent of Mercy at Wigton by using Google.

The full name was The Convent of the Sisters of Mercy, part of the Union of the Sisters of Mercy.   They seem to have an archive, so it might be worth contacting them.
