Where else could they be?
« on: Wednesday 27 August 25 15:16 BST (UK) »
Hey all,

I'm at a loss, half of family has vanished and I've no idea where to look

James Hills born c.1843 Spaldwick, Huntingdonshire
Ann Hills born c.1845 Bedfordshire

had 3 children that I'm aware of

Charlotte Hills b.1871-d.1872
Eliza J Hills b.1873-d.1918
William C Hills b.1880-d. unknown

the whole family is missing from the 1891 census

1901- Ann is showing as a visitor at the home of William and Charlotte Swales in Huntingdon St Mary, she shows as married, but no sign of her husband....

can anyone help?

There is a possible James Hills in London as a patient...but...yeah bit of a loss.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

The census is at Huntingdon (Not sure what Hospital) and it says she was born in Ratcliffe (Leicestershire?)

This might not be Eliza after all!  ???

You have the marriage for Eliza presumably - 1898 which says father James is a labourer

Yep, i've got that, he isn't shown as deceased, plus Ann being shown as married in 1901 means he must be somewhere...but no idea where

The problem is fathers weren't always noted as deceased even if they were but if Ann says married in 1901 that is further evidence he was still alive.

I wonder is there a death for little William Charles?  He would only be 10 in 1891 so not likely to be out on his own.

Have you checked grandparents on 1891 census as they often had grandchildren with them.
