 the occupation looks like waterman to me

he had  at least 6 siblings b 19 so is mentioned in some  obituarirs :

i thought i might find his living neice who cared for him mentioned in an obituary
i wonder if she could be a great neice

 he retired from the steelworks in 1976
& was retired for more years than he worked !

i ll be speaking to one of his french granddaughters later .so its lovely to find information that she can tell her mother

my French is getting rusty but im fairly sure that steel is acier & a sawmill is a scierie

couldnt work out his job there in English

i found navy records for a Lemon Irving with mother Nelly but he was white !
thats quite a coincidence .
i d never heard of the 1st name Lemon before
his  brother named a son Lemon too

there should be 9 siblings altogether
i think 7 with first wife

lizzie may WINTERS a half sister was born 1932

according to 1950 census their father   Aurthur  munch ERWIN.was separated

I cant find him or his wife & children in ,1940 probably another mistranscription

and another grandchild 2 year old lucinda
who i think could be the 9th child

It is strange, I can't readily find him in 1940 either. The draft registration card for Adell ERVING with  Manch ERVING as father has their address as RFD1 West Attala, Mississippi (dated October 1940). Can't find Auther Manch or Adell ERVING on the census.
