Finding Joseph Cragg b.1520 Dad and Mum Cockermouth England Please

Would some kind person be able to expand this Cragg [Cragge, Creag, Craig] line for me  Please.

Who was Josephs Dad and Mum ?

Joseph Cragg b. 1520 Cockermouth, Cumberland, England d. abt 1585 prob Cumberland

married

Sarah abt 1520-1580

had Issue

Michael Cragg b.1545 Penrith Cumbria d. abt 1605

married

Esther Atkinson 1545-1600

had Issue

 John Cragg b. 1570 Penrith died 1630 Wynesdale Lancaster married Smith 1579-1622

Here are a couple sources that might help: Cumbria Archives and indexes of Common Pleas and Kings Bench, about 1350-1600.

For Cumbria Archives you will need to try various spellings, but Crag, Cragg and Cragge seem to be the main ones. The Common Pleas/Kings Bench index will give quite many results, but you can search for only Cumberland to get a more manageable number.

I didn't find Joseph in Cockermouth, but quite many others going back to the early 15th century.

Its become confusing research apart from surname changes Crag-Cragg-Cragge del Cragge etc ..and ..
and somehow split into three groups..we seem to get snagged in the 1500's for example William Cragge 1582-1629 North Yorkshire .... William Cragg b. 1568-1646 Dent West Yorkshire,... Arther Cragge b.1558- Kendal Westmoreland...some say its Joseph Cragg b. 1520 Cumberland...and now Cragg in Canada are the Hardcastle Cragg....further back Hudd del Crag assizer rolls of Lancashire 1260...just cant find the link to put them all together...Thanks for the links cheers Rick
