Hi everyone
I am looking information on the small stone Bridge on the sharp bend on this road
I seen it named as murder bridge and would like to find out why ?
I heard story's that a priest or monk was murdered there a long time ago
Anyone help

The legend is that the name recalls the event when a group of monks, journeying from Holywood to Downpatrick, were set upon and killed by robbers. But finding evidence for something like that, which occurred many centuries ago, is another matter and it may well turn out to be apocryphal.

Perhaps mentioned in Ordnance Survey Memoirs for that area (although not all accounts recorded were reliable)?

I like these wee stories asked once about thee ghost at the bridge at clandeboye the one the lorry always hit and found out it is in clandeboye records that a highway man was hung from the bridge and that's who the ghost is
