Abraham Lounds
« on: Wednesday 20 August 25 20:37 BST (UK) »
I recently discovered my 5x ggf had survived and gone on to have another family in Bradford. But as one page is filled another page has questions. On his DC a John Lounds is mentioned as in attendance. I am able to find a John Lounds b 1811 living in Bradford born in Birmingham as the son of Abraham and Mary. Abraham might be another key to knocking down a stubborn brick wall as he would be the right generation as my 5xggf father my 6xggf.

Please can anyone help with any information about Abraham when and where he was born. His wife Mary's surname, any other children, siblings or parents names. Thank you in advance x

You don't give any name or birthyear/birthplace for your 5x ggf or the year he died?

Was he also surname Lounds or another surname?

You say Abraham would be the "right generation as my 5 x ggf my 6 x ggf"

Are you saying Abraham could be the father of your 5 x ggf?  If so - he wouldn't be the same generation as his son?

What census did you find John Lounds on?

My Apologies Carole, my 5x ggf William Lounds was born in 1780 in Bedworth in Warwickshire and died in 1850 in Bradford. His father  was William Lowns born in c1758 (mo idea where) and died in Bedworth in 1822. So Abraham would possibly be of William Lowns generation and finding his baptism would help us narrow down William Lowns' baptism- we have 10 possibilities.

I have John Lounds on 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 census all but one says he was born Birmingham or Warwickshire the other gives Bradford where he was living at the time. John is mentioned in attendance on William Lounds death cert in 1850. I found a baptism for John Lounds in 1811 in Birmingham to Abraham and Mary hence trying to make a link to William Lowns who died in Bedworth in 1822.

Sorry once again for being vague hope this is clearer x
