I’m a student from India researching my family history. My ancestor was a lascar, Tafezoody, saved a life at Aden in 1903, and this act of bravery was recorded as Royal Humane Society Case No. 32560. I have newspaper clippings as well.
The record is held at the London Metropolitan Archives. I contacted both the RHS (£55) and the Archives (£40), but sadly, as a poor student from India, this is beyond my means. £55 is almost half my monthly income.
If anyone visiting the Archives could kindly take a few photographs or even share a summary of the file, it would mean the world to me. This is not for commercial gain – only to preserve and understand my family’s story.
Even the smallest help would be precious to me.
