" sinned" Viktoria,  whatever for?

LM
Well we are supposed to be descended from Eve!
The Nuns held very strong old beliefs ,and remember it was Eve who tempted Adam!
In the old “ Churching “ ceremony women until fairly recently had to be “Churched “ before they were accepted  back in society.

I'm a bit puzzled by this Viktoria - what promises are made in the wedding ceremony that would mean a woman has sinned if she gives birth to a child? Doesn't part of the ceremony say that marriage is for the procreation of children (or words to that effect)? And the promise 'with my body I thee honour' seems to be approval rather than condemnation.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying  but can't get my head around it.  ???

I heard the same account from one of my mother's older cousins.  Three weeks after the birth of her baby the cousin decided to visit an aunt.  When the aunt opened the front door and saw who was visiting she shouted at her niece saying she wasn't welcome as she hadn't been churched.

Don’t twins only “run” on the female side, and only fraternal twins at that.  There seems to be a genetic tendency for some women to release two eggs during ovulation, hence the arrival of fraternal twins.  Identical twins are just a chance occurrence and not influenced by genes.
My maternal grandmother, a paternal great grandmother and a paternal great grandmother all had twins ( two sets were fraternal, the other set died young, and unknown what type they were, but both girls) but I was not blessed, had three singles.  My children’s paternal grandfather had an identical twin.
I did know a family with two sets of fraternal twins, all girls.

Yes,” Original sin “ Eve tempting Adam, I think it goes back to that.
It infuriated me ,really.I felt my husband ought to be there too to show thanks for our healthy baby and that I was well.
Old superstitions. ::)

A lot of misogynistic things like that come from the Old Testament.
Patriarchs having lots of wives etc.
The wording of the Churching has changed from what I remember 68 years ago.The more recent service us a thanksgiving .

As with many things in religion ,misinterpretings too.

Well just spent a day with my great grandchildren ,delightful.
Baby Lily so sociable,Kyra and Flash Harry so good ..
A big bake in for the reception ,G.Daughter has done her own wedding cake so finishing touches to that .
There will be food - Pizza Hut and a hog roast and fish and chips van, Salads and savoury etc rice to go with those.
Well tea time ,I am hungry , had a light lunch as so much going on in the kitchen!
Cheerio folks .
Viktoria.
Phew !

Two of my mother’s sisters had boy twins .
No idea what the foetus was  I lost ,but must have been two placentas and amniotic sacs or my daughter would have been lost too.
As memory serves me it was Summer and I had just stopped having the dreadful nausea ,all day and night ,so probably three months .
I was perhaps dehydrated.

Well wedding tomorrow ,do hope it is good weather for them.
It teemed down for my wedding ,but a lovely time .
Cheerio .Thanks for the good wishes.
Viktoria.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow Viktoria very special times for families.
I think the weather in Suffolk should be ok… don’t think there’s any rain due and hopefully sunny.. not sure exactly where you are but sure it’ll be ok.
It rained on our wedding day too on the 4th August! Most photos taken inside the big marquee we had in the garden… wonderful memories though.

LM hope your knee is improving and you’ve been able to take it easy.

Fingers crossed 🤞for good weather Viktoria, I believe it is supposed to be dry everywhere but not sunny until late  afternoon. I’m sure you will look very smart and all have lovely time. We all look forward to hearing all about it.

It was a glorious sunny morning the day of my August wedding but rained heavily for the wedding in the afternoon, no photos outside the church until after the reception.

Coming up to our 57th wedding anniversary this week, so many happy memories.  It was a dull drizzly day and I was glad to have the dress and coat ensemble I was wearing.  A bit of a rebel at the time, I chose to marry in the register office and not wear a white meringue.

Hope the sun shines on you and the bride, Viktoria.  Our choir is busking today on the sea front in aid of the RNLI, and so far the sun is shining, though it's rather cooler than recently with just 19 degrees forecast.
