Diary summary week ending 24th August 2025
« on: Monday 18 August 25 10:25 BST (UK) »
Morning  folks , hope everyone feel better after the weekend.

Decidedly  cooler this morning, most welcome in my opinion.

Can't believe  the date, it has crept up and I have missed a birthday, silly me, the card might be late  but  the cheque will be welcome no doubt.

No doubt you all know I am a twin, mentioned it often enough, last week I fell over, yesterday I had a call from my brother and he had a fall this week , he ended up in hospital overnight,  I laughed and explained why,  if something happens to  me he follows , when I had my car accident about 2 years ago the next day he wrote his car off, it seems it starts with me but not the other way round , K Garrard has twins in the family,  do they suffer similarly, strange though  isn't it?

Take care

My brother and I are fraternal twins; non-identical.

My twin daughters have occasionally reported instances of similar "happenings".
Not sure about my twin grand-daughters.

Yes L.M.Quite cool this morning ,weak sunshine .

I always felt I was a twin,no idea why but I did.
Someone who understood me!
I lost a baby at three months - well what seemed a miscarriage yet was still pregnant ,daughter born at due date, placenta”ragged” according to the Doctor, who said it was “ tired “,so was I , ;D
This was in Belgium, no services like those in England ,ante natal clinics etc.
No home births which my other two had been, even the first .
Not geared for breast feeding so I  discharged myself after three days .
I was supposed to be there a week.
Such different attitudes ,no gas and air as I had “  sinned” according to the
Nuns who ran the clinic,I had to suffer !
Well I had done the breathing exercises and did not make  one sound ,just to annoy them!
They took her from me and she was all night away from me and  was sobbing  with dried  tears all down her little cheeks, I insisted she stay with me after
that and so was in trouble again with the Nuns so went home .
I had been the Baby Welfare  nurse at St,Mary’s Hospital in Manchester and at Crumpsall ( Now N,Mc.) Premature baby unit, had two children already .
When back from Belgium I did an O.U course “ The  first  four years of life”
So went to the educational side not the nursing side .
Then worked in Primary schools ,so same holidays as my daughter.
Sons were 10 and 8 years older than their sister.

Well must get on ,hope those unwell are feeling better , I am not too bad at all really ,tired but at 88 that is not unusual.
Cheerio,
Viktoria .

Perhaps I should feel deprived, as we've never as far as I know had any twinnery in the family! I was born on my mother's birthday, however, and often we'd suddenly contact the other one, concerned about the same thing, or having had a similar experience. In our case, being fairly close probably the cause.

I must say I find it quite interesting as to why these things happen to both of us one after the other, our partners ought to watch it if one of us passes away,  well you never know do you !

I never experienced any of those sort of feeling but when I was a child (or possibly teenager) I convinced myself I was adopted as I didn't look like any of the family. The supposed  adoption was just a product of my imagination of course, although a few years ago when I was showing some family photos to a friend, some of them being great grandparents, I asked her if she could see any resemblance to me and the answer was a straight no! I know my sister and I have some similar mannerisms but is that nature or nurture? That's another debate.....

Grey and cool here today, we even had a little rain, more like drizzle though.

I to thought I was adopted when I was younger! I wonder why those thoughts go through one’s mind as a child!

I’m impressed with three generations of twins KG… I thought it missed a generation usually. Intuition between twins must be a little scary at times!

Dull day here today and cooler but still got washing all dry.. the garden beginning to look like a desert! We water the veg otherwise what’s the point in growing it and I do water my roses 🌹 already lost one Golden Rose we bought for our 50th but luckily we have another in a different spot and it’s beautiful.

Hope the knees improving LM and you’re trying to take it easy..

My goodness Viktoria having a baby in Belgium does sound rather austere… my M-in - Law was sent to a Belgium convent from Ireland and she didn’t have a good word to say about the Nuns!

Well in for cataract surgery on Wednesday at 8.20 am 😳 for the second (left) eye, had laser surgery on right eye last week… it made a big difference after initial surgery 2 yrs ago and then getting misted up.. so can’t wait to have A1 vision… maybe.. well better than now anyway! What marvels science brings us to enhance life for longer.

Daughter and family back from their three wk trip to visit our Son in Oz this w/e.. they’ve shared lots of pics with ‘The Grandparents’ so it almost feels like we’ve been with them!
The Whitsundays looked beautiful such colours in tge clear water..
whale watching from Hervey Bay,
Dolphin feeding from Tin Can Bay..
final days on Fraser Island driving a 4x4 on sand…
trips to the zoo, national parks, Stradbroke island..
but I’ll bet when asked what the boys liked best it will be driving Uncle M’s multi purpose vehicle round his 4 acre land and seeing kangaroos 🦘 in the garden.. what lucky boys they are to be taken on such a wonderful trip.. plus visiting Singapore and overlooking Marina Bay and The Bay Sands hotel.

Coming back to UK an London going to seem very odd.

Well must do the ironing.
Take care all and have a better cooler week

It's actually 4 generations!
Mum was a twin, but her sister was registered as Stillborn.

Check Guinness World Records for "Most Consecutive Generations of Twins!"
We are joint record holders. ;)
