Was Imre FURST living in Glasgow in 1961 my grandmother's 2nd cousin?
« on: Monday 18 August 25 08:54 BST (UK) »
Hello
I'm really keen to find out if the Imre Furst who was in Glasgow on the electoral roll in 1951 came from Hungary and was my grandmother's 2nd cousin, who was born 27 Sept 1899 in Budapest to parents Ignac Furst and Ilona Rothauser.
Thank you so much for any help, Colee

Apologies, it should say 1951 in the subject. There was a Cyril I Furst in 1961 which I suppose could be the same person but I'd have to prove it.

That's interesting softly softly, thank you so much. I will hunt for the certificate on the National Archives, I should have thought of that!

Amazing info thank you softly softly :)

If he was born in 1909 that probably discounts him as my grandmother's cousin, as he would need to have been born in 1899. Which is what I wanted to find out. So I'm very grateful. I was nearly getting very excited there, I thought he might be my man!!

Still, I suppose that the Imre Furst born in 1909 might be a relative of my grandmother too, if he was from Budapest, Hungary. I am looking for someone who might be the father of a DNA match of mine (this DNA match only just found out he has Hungarian heritage through a DNA test which showed the person he thought was his father in fact wasn't). So it could be anyone related to me, I think on my father's maternal side (worked out from triangulation), who was in Glasgow in 1948. It's a bit of a needle in a haystack situation!

I don't think I can view the marriage details online, there isn't an image, so I guess I would have to order the certificate. No death records come up.

Having no Scottish relatives, I don't subscribe to ScotlandsPeople.

But looking at FreeBMD (for England & Wales) for Furst births by decade, 1900-1979, shows:

1900's 11
1910's 5
1920's 3
1930's 2
1940's 19
1950's 7
1960's 10
1970's 14

So, not an unusual surname?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
