Interesting thank you KGarrad :)

Yes there do seem to be quite a few Furst records for England and Wales, I wonder though how many of them with Hungarian heritage. I guess there would be far fewer for just Scotland.

I would say that Furst is (or was as most would have changed their names) fairly common in Hungary, there are 500 or so Furst marriages and death records on JewishGen, and double that for births. So it's quite manageable numbers for doing research if you're looking at particular locations :)

Having no Scottish relatives, I don't subscribe to ScotlandsPeople.
For the avoidance of doubt and possible disappointment or misunderstanding, no-one subscribes to Scotland's People. It is free to register and to search the indexes and some documents but mostly it is pay-per-view with no subscription option available.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi,
As Forfarian has said free to look at the indexes for SP, there are 43 Furst births recorded in Scotland, the first in 1879.

Lovely, thank you David and Forfarian!
I have actually managed to deduce through the helpful Scottish Jewish archives that Imre's parents were Emil and Johanna Berger, and I then found a well-researched Ancestry tree with his family including photos. So it's great to locate Imre, and he was definitely Hungarian. But it wasn't the Imre I was hoping for, although it's possible somehow he is related to the Imre Furst on my tree. Some of his siblings were living in London, so it's conceivable there is family there still and I might try to connect with them to see what I can find out that way.
Thank you all for your help!
