William Hambling B 1846 Dereham Norfolk England  D Dec 1937 South Shields Durham England

I would like to know who he married.

I have info he married twice. Eliza Eliza Ellsworth can’t find a marriage certificate but other ancestry trees have the same entirety.

The other is Sarah Brooks. I have info on a marriage England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1837-1915 which gives William Hambling

The other problem I’m having is Children. If he married twice which had which mother? There are a few I have 5 William John 1880, Annie M Hambling 1886, Bertha 1888, Rebecca 1890 and Samuel 1893

You can find the mothers maiden names from the GRO index https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

William John's mother was an Ellsworth. I haven't checked the others

Have you looked for him on the various censuses to establish his wife’s name as it will help pin down a death date for first wife & re-marriage

You can then use GRO online to “split” the children between the 2 wives

In the 1881 census he has children Samuel Ellsworth 14 born Lymington, and Florence S?orey 4 born South Shields.

Florence's surname must be Scorey. MMN Ellsworth per the GRO index.

Looks like Eliza Ellsworth married William Scorey in Lymington in 1871

Yes I found that which makes it more confusing as some of the children have the mother as Eliza. I haven't subscribed to the site that some have found info. Not being funny but I have problems with types of sites and it takes me for ever unlike many on here who find the info so quick, About 10 years ago I had a  mini stroke and things have never been the same.

Per freebmd - Eliza Hambling aged 35 died 1886 South Shields

Per freebmd William Hambling married Sarah Brooks 1887 South Shields

1891 - Sarah is 42 b Staffordshire - no children shown born between 1887 - 1891

1901 there is a son Samuel Hambling b 1893

GRO online shows mmn Denley which suggests Sarah was previously married

Freebmd has an 1867 marriage - Sarah Agnes Denley / George John Brooks
