William Machell/Maychell born about 1782
« on: Wednesday 13 August 25 14:07 BST (UK) »
William Machell was born about 1782 in Lancaster. Ancestry has a baptism of a William Machell bap 10 July 1782 Lancaster, son of William and Ann of Bulk. (Lancashire Online Parish Clerks has a few William Machell/Maychell baptisms about the same time, but not this one.)

I can’t find a marriage for William and Ann on Ancestry, Lancashire Online Parish Clerks, or Find my Past. Nor can I find any other children of William and Ann. Any help in finding William’s parents, grandparents, etc. would be really appreciated!

(William born about 1782 married Peggy Higgins 10 Dec 1803 in Lancaster. He was a Cabinet Maker. They had a number of children: in order: Ann, William, Richard, James, Elizabeth, Margaret, and John.)

In 1841 he appears to be married to Margaret - Peggy is often a corruption of Margaret

Thanks, CaroleW. I’ve been able to follow William, his wife, and children through the censuses. I’m just wondering where he originated?

Hi Radcliff,
I think William is the son of William Maychell and Ann of Bulk (near Lancaster), and i’ve found a lot of information about him, including wills for him and his sons.

However, who is the William Maychell of Bulk who is his father? And what is the surname of Ann? I haven’t been able to find a marriage for them.
Bridget
