Help finding a Montreal Marriage Please.
« on: Tuesday 12 August 25 17:33 BST (UK) »
Hello Everyone - I so hope some kind Rootschatter can help.

I have attached an extract from a Scottish birth certificate, which gives details of the parents marrying in Montreal - the date looks like 1865 (or 1866) - on 1st June, Montreal. Canada.

The father (and therefore the groom) is Henry Carter, a Soldier.

The mother (and the bride) is Mary Ann West.

Can anyone tell me how I can find this marriage please?

Many thanks for reading.

The marriage should be in the Drouin Collection availalable on Ancestry and I believe familysearch but I am not seeing it at the moment.

Did Henry and Mary Ann have a son Charles Henry born 1866? Found a baptism for said Charles to those parents but MMN isn’t given, unfortunately.

Polar Bear - you are absolutely correct.

I found the birth of Charles Henry in the Drouin Collection, but couldn't find a marriage.

This is a complex case and it would not surprise me in the least to find that the parents NEVER married. It's driving me nuts (it hasn't got far to go!).

The number of children born to them in England increase, but they are never together on census records after their 'marriage'.

So don't bother looking anymore - you have kindly confirmed my 'non-finding'.

Thank you so much for your time.
