Speakers House, Henley-on-Thames, 1930s

A question for any experts on Speakers House!

During the 1930s, it appears that historic Speakers House comprised three addresses in Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames - nos. 44, 48 and 50.  I believe that no. 48 was a Doctor's practice at this time and no. 50 was privately occupied.  No. 44 was also privately occupied, by two separate tenants, and must have been divided into two flats at that time.  These days, the whole of no. 44 Hart Street is occupied by a real estate agent.

I am interested in a couple that resided at no. 44 in the early 1930s - in fact I know from online electoral rolls at FindMyPast that they were there during much of the latter part of the 1920s and then up until 1933.  Unfortunately, the Oxfordshire electoral rolls are not online after 1931, but I do know that between 1934 and 1937 at least - per electoral rolls that have been reviewed manually - that no. 44 remained empty throughout while nos. 48 and 50 continued to be occupied.

I'm wondering if anybody might know if there was some kind of refurbishment or restoration work at no. 44 that might have been going on through the period 1934 to (at least) 1937 that might have required the existing tenants to relocate.

I'm interested to find where the couple at no. 44 might have moved to after 1933 and if the move was an enforced one, I am thinking that it is much more likely that they might well have stayed in the area.

There is an advertisement in 1936 for the Speakers House to  be let or sold, doesn't mention numbers though.

Have I posted this image before? I seem to have a copy already.
