Sorry to hear Gillg you are unwell, plenty of water with coffee as was mentioned this week, it is absolutely  sweltering  here, Reg  30 in the lounge, the fan must go on soon.

I never seem to finish washing,  a friend of mine is in a retirement  home and she is allowed only 3 washes per week, that was because some residents were  abusing the situation,  wouldn't work for me.

Viktoria,  Saturday I was very fortunate , having  fallen it seems a hoard of kind people came forward and packed up the white elephant for me,  I could not have done it myself, now we have to get back to sort out what we don't want for the next  fete or whatever it will be called, I was very thankful for the extra help. Our local charity shops don't seem to rake anything at the moment,  one shop took 1 box, another 2 none and yesterday I found one who took the rest of the boxes I had in my car since Saturday,  surprised my husband was so good natured about it..

Although I am thankful I have no bones broken or fractures I seem to be in a lot of pain, it will subside at sometime I hope, other than that I am melting in this weather like a lot of others.

Keep cool folks and gillg  please take care.

Yes LM, some are very picky. I had a two drawer filing cabinet in good condition and which I need to shift so that I can get to some shelves of books and paperwork.
I took a photo of it and took this to the local CS.
"Oh yes that looks very nice. When can we pick it up?"
So the arrangements were made and in due course they came to collect, only to tell me
"These don't sell very well. We already have two others similar in the shop for months. Sorry we can't take it!"
I did manage, quite quickly, to get someone to take it so no long term "suffering!"

So glad no broken bones LM.
OurB,H.F.charity shop is selling everything half price at the moment to clear stock.

Well tomorrow it will be72 years since my late husband and I first went out on our first date.A beautiful Summer evening so we walked home from the cinema.
He was so courteous and intelligent  I was truly impressed.
Was quite astonished that he was 22 as I was 16, but he looked about 18 and was so quiet ,shy and polite.
I never lost my respect for that and just him being himself .
We married three years later and I was very lucky .

Got my specs back from Opticians, wrong prescription so new lens and they seem O.K.Second mistake in their part.Bifocals too high on previous lens.

Son away to Head Office ,back tomorrow, so took a taxi.
A lovely afternoon,not oppressively hot.

Loads of washing all dry .Beds changed and ironing tomorrow whilst watching something on T.V.

Letter from Consultant re pacemaker and a request for another iron infusion .
I am being well looked after and feel very lucky.

Look after yourselves folks thanks for the news and good wishes.
Hope Gillig soon picks up .
Viktoria.
Hope Erato is O.K.We have crossed swords a few times but they are very intelligent and you wonder if all is O.K when no,posts for a while.V.

Gillg, could it be Covid? I think flu is pretty well unheard of in Britain in the summer but the nasty C virus lurks around all year. I caught it last August when I went to London. Hope you soon feel better whatever it is.

Lovely romantic memories for you Viktoria  :)

Roobarb
I was so floppy and feeling ill in the evening that my husband phoned 911 and they organised a visit for me to the out of hours service.  We dashed off to a surgery in the nearest city, about half an hour's drive away, and there I was seen by a lovely young doctor, who took her time examining every aspect of my health, testing heart, lungs, BP, oxygen levels and so on very thoroughly.  She found my temperature to be raised and eventually concluded that since other things were working properly I must have a virus, possibly Covid and recommended Paracetamol to get the temperature down!

I still have some of my old Covid tests packs, but on looking at the packaging I can see that the newest of them left the factory gates in 2021, so don't hold out much hope for it to be any good.  Still, I will give it a try out of curiosity.  Today I am feeling a lot better, but am keeping out of the family's way just in case.

Thanks for all the good wishes.  The problem is that once you have been diagnosed with a condition (in my case heart, leading to a pacemaker) you begin to wonder what the significance of any other problem might be.  It's all in the mind, I think. :)

Viktoria
We have a village website where people can leave messages about local matters.  Sometimes it's warnings about traffic problems, sometimes announcements about events, but quite often people will post a photo of an item and ask if anyone wants it.  There is rarely an amount specified or required, perhaps an invitation to donate to a charity.  I got rid of my big old heavy Miele vacuum cleaner this way.  It was working well, but I had just treated myself to a lightweight cordless one.  The cleaner belonging to the person who took it had just broken down and she had several hairy dogs, so she was very pleased to take it.

What lovely memories of your husband and your marriage, Viktoria!  We will be celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary later this month.  My husband was a fellow teacher, who persuaded me that I was wasting my time with the boyfriend I had, and that I should be with him instead!  I decided that he was right and we married the following year. :)

Gillg, did you say to the doctor that you knew it must be Covid as Roobarb said so?  ;) ;D ;D ;D
Joking apart, I'm really sorry to hear you were feeling so unwell, pleased to hear you're starting to feel better,  I hope you're soon over it. And fingers crossed that your husband hasn't caught it.

Hi All

Hope you feel improved and better soon Gillg and All who are suffering.

I had balance issues on and off (balance seems to settle down, but a bit unpleasant).

There is something in circulation, I noticed several in the village have a most awful cough or sound like they have a continual cold!

Two years ago I had symptoms similar to a stroke, slurred voice, mouth drooping, balance, my wife took me to A&E in the car, as we were told 7 hours wait for Ambulance.

At A & E my heart was fine on ECG, usual bloods okay, heart and lungs x-ray okay, so they put me in the brain scanner and my usual deterioration observed in 2001 (24 yrs ago) was seen.

Nurse said how do you feel now at 1am in the early hours of the morning, I said the worst seems to have passed and I just want to lie down and sleep, so they sent me home.

I had awful nightime sweating and raised temperature for a while about 2 - 3 years ago (there was no Lady in the bed honest  :) .

My GP said if I touched my wet skin, make sure I wash my hands before eating or passing food to another person, etc.

Be on guard for Dehydration, not drinking enough and replacing the fluid being lost.

I am just making sure I drink enough water, tea, occasional coffee and occasional heated milk drink (milk higher in magnesium and I think B vits) with 1/2 a teaspoon of natural Cacao (no sugar or sweetener for me) and I eat all my usual home cooked meals with fresh cooked veg and my daily fruit.

Rather than take anything for my raised body temperature, my late Grandfather once said to me sweat out the poisons (the infection).

Take care, but if in doubt, always wise to get it checked by a GP / Medic.

Mark

Hope you are over the worst now,Gilig and Bushinn you have been” in the wars “— glad things are better for you.

A lovely sunny day but not oppressive .

Son back,a steak for his tea.

Tesco order arrived ,all checked off and away .

Watered the containers , did a bit of dead heading ,and sprayed a bit  of horsetail in  the  lane  plus some lime which it hates .

Had a hair trim today—-  ::)I am told it is nice but they are being very kind !

Well just watching the surrender of Japan , wonder if the people and zEmperor knew of the prison camps and the appalling needless cruelty !

Hope those unwell soon feel better.
I have had a pretty good day today ,just hope I sleep better tonight as I have done quite a good amount.

Cheerio, look after yourselves folks.
 Viktoria.
