Just watching the programme about the Moors Murders.
The search of the moors was called off - expense!
How much did it take to keep Bradley and Hindley in prison ——in relative comfort ?
The anguish of Keith Bennett’s family was of less importance it would seem and Brady and Hindley still had a great measure of control .

I can remember Lord Longford saying Lesley Anne Downey’s mother was” a hysterical,mother”———-
It was almost beyond belief, she had to identify her little girl’s remains after they were recovered from the peat of the moors.
After months underground.
So much evidence has been locked away that could have helped and what right had Brady to private papers lodged with a Solicitor that have still not been handed over?

In the words of a Dickens character—-“ The Law is a ass!”
Well we know they do a good job but sometimes there are cases like this that must make many really sad and angry.
It does me!
Viktoria.

Baking hot here today, 32 degrees and of course it brings lots of people to the beaches to enjoy themselves but also there are the inevitable bad news reports. Several children rescued from the sea, thank goodness they were brought back alive. Lifeboat has also been called out to a boat, hope the outcome of that is good news.

And a car that someone thought was a good idea to drive on the beach, is now floating in the sea. There's always one.  ::)

Forecast tomorrow is down to 26°, can only hope for less bad news.

Hi All

I am sorry, I have not read the Diary for a while, but this popped up in the Rootschat feed.

I did notice that LM had joint trouble because she was first post I think and had fell and I hope you recover quickly.

Regarding any other diarists not well, I wish you well and hope you are feeling better soon.

Yes Roobarb, it is definitely not a good idea:-
i) to either drive onto a beach and get the wheels stuck in the sand or
ii) to park the car on the beach walk off and forget about the incoming tide.

The sea doesn't issue parking tickets when overstaying your welcome, it just floats the car away, a kind of seizure of vehicle, without the fuss of a lorry or recovery truck.

Watch you don't get burnt in your bikinis or shorts sipping wine in the sun ;D

I had a little red wine with my breakfast this morning before and after a mug of tea, purely medicinal of course!

Mark

It's shorts in the garden, bikini is strictly reserved for foreign holidays   :)

It's amazing how many people do drive onto the beach, then often have to pay the local fishermen to pull the car off with their tractor, much to the amusement of the locals  ;D ;D

Monday I received a "Transfer of Care (Discharge)" notice from the hospital, stating I would have a face-to-face meeting with consultant within 2 weeks of Op - 2 weeks is up today.

So, rang Manx Care Advice and Liaison Service.

Apparently I have an appointment at 16:15 today - letter was sent TODAY!

Good job I rang?

Yes, good job you were proactive KG!

Also good to read that your fete was a success LM, hopefully the pain from your nasty fall is beginning to ease and thankfully nothing broken. Perhaps with help to clear away at the end it can be seen it shouldn't be left for one to cope with on own and a bit of a push for extra helpers next time.

A nice week of cool but sunny days, some hot lemon drink with the fruit picked off my tree freshly squeezed and a bit of honey for me  ;) a cooling lime drink a go to for refreshment hotter days though  :)

Cheers for the weekend all  :)

Hope you are feeling better L.M.It does take it out of you, I found putting all the white elephant stuff away very hard after setting up and standing so long then putting away all the unsold stuff after criticism that I had sold too cheaply - soooooo- I said I was fed up with dragging things out and then putting them back so made a decision to let them go cheaply as that was easier for me and as I had no help I made a “ unanimous decision “to ask very low prices get rid of as much as
The irony was a few months later someone took it upon themselves to get rid of stuff that had been in and out if the cupboard for years ,just sent it to a charity shop directly opposite church —- so perhaps some gain to that charity but none for church. ::)
But I loved the companionship and friendship and miss it all very much .
No Ladies ‘Group now, we had some good speakers and outings etc.

Just watching The V.J .day commemorations ,a violinist playing “The Lark Ascending”
Accompanied on a Japanese ( Yamaha) piano ——-  >:(

The Lancaster growling through the skies ,my Dad might have had something to do with its Merlin engines.

Such ordinary people who did extraordinary brave deeds ,what must the survivors  think when they hear of  twelve year olds committing murder.
They must wonder if it was all worthwhile.

And many of the survivors might have had their Winter fuel allowance stopped ,so much for gratitude.

A glorious day ,blue blue skies and bright sunshine.
My washing will be dry already ,then ironing —-

Need my hair trimming over my ears and at the back where it is still very dark ,it looks as if I am wearing a silver grey wig.

Well, look after yourselves folks, especially those with some difficult health problems ,with  hopes that you see some improvement .
Viktoria.

lrovement.

A  very hot day, but I've got the shivers - is it summer flu?   My husband will make his own meal tonight. Pizza and salad?? I might be tempted by a slice of toast or a rice cake or two.  There is some lovely fruit about - nectarines, apricots (my favourites), grapes, but I don't fancy any of them at the moment!  I have washed all the towels and pale things and they are all dry, but I will have some ironing to do later.  The laundry basket is empty, but it won't be for long.  It's like the Magic Porridge Pot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=DX0Lign-qYQ Maybe I should say, "Stop, laundry basket, stop!".

Don't forget to keep yourselves hydrated (I hate that buzz word  >: ) in this hot weather. Water will do the trick, but don't drink too much coffee, as we have said before.  I gave up tea when I was a student in Germany and was converted to coffee by my pals.
