Well I am happy to say it was a lovely afternoon ,sister had control on her questioning nature,so all my well rehearsed come backs were wasted ,but I am pleased to say that. For all my indignation I have to remember she was very spoilt, having lived with an unpleasant person when we were separated as evacuees so very indulged when we got back home, whereas I was very well cared for and loved the people I was with .I went back regularly and have never lost touch , so in a way preferred to be with them ,I had known them longer than my parents .Three and a half when I went in December 1940 and returned in May 1945 when I was eight.

I took some things to the charity shop today ,I saw an outfit in champagne colour, a lace dress with a moire edge to edge jacket .
By Jaques Vert, it looked absolutely new .I could not believe it £15——
Really not worn at all I am certain .I was told to take it,  I could take it  home, try it on and  they  would refund me if it did not fit .
Well at home I could see why it had been sent , it is well nigh impossible to zip up and when it is you can’t unzip it ,need another person to help.
But it us really posh ,I have some metallic champaign shoes never worn and bag to match .Trouble is it really swish, needs a big hairdo and big brimmed hat,  I look like a little mushroom in big hats but seemingly many of the guests are not wearing hats at all, it is a pretty informal wedding .
We will see.

The weather today has been very bright but coolish .
Have emptied the pond and  made holes in the liner so it will drain.
I will put the herb pots in and sit them on gravel  for good drainage.
Then finally the herb patch can be emptied and a proper ramp for my mobility scooter put in place there so easier access.

Son off to head office tomorrow, ready for a conference on Monday.
I can do my usual big before holiday clean .
Daughter has asked me to go down early  to help with things for the
wedding.
I am looking forward to being re- united with my suitcase left there for grandson to come up here but as I have said he has had car trouble so has not been.I travelled by train.
I would rather go by train  but  like to leave all clean and tidy and prefer to be alone to do that rather than have someone fretting to leave.

Well time for bed and I have nothing new to read ,so back to an old favourite of the many I  have.
Cheerio folks, hope you can all enjoy the very good weather forecast on tonight’s news.
Viktoria.

Do you know the old trick with difficult back zips?  Get a very long piece of fine string and thread it through the little hole on the fastener piece . Tie the two ends of the string firmly and pull it up so that it is now half the length.  Hang on to the string as you put the dress on, if you can, or get hold of the end of the string, pull it up as you raise your arm and this pulls up the zip too.  When you have pulled the zip up to the top you will need to find a pair of scissors to cut the string, which should be long enough for you to pull it over your shoulder to do this.  If you can tuck the string into the dress you can unzip it as well!

The outfit sounds lovely.  Wear a flower in your hair or a fascinator if you feel the need to wear something on your head.  At my nephew's recent wedding his mother was the only guest to wear a hat and she looked lovely, though she did discard it at the reception.

Jacque Vert! My favourite. I've had a number from Charity Shops and PRE-LOVED. Most still with tags on. I couldn't afford them otherwise. I even went to my daughter's wedding in a gorgeous creation of dress and chiffon, beaded and sequened coat in deep purple. Absolutely Fabulous! (the clothing...I was my usual Self).

Years ago a colleague asked me, why I 'bragged about how little I paid for my purchases - from the Sales?'  My reply....  "Because I love a bargain; and it leaves me money for other things!"  Topic - Shut down.

She never heard me moaning aboout unpaid bills; or being short till pay day; but we all listened to her tales of woe, by paying top price to stay in fashion.  Cut your coat according to your cloth - springs to mind. A clear conscience; bills paid;  full stomach; food in the cupboard; shoes on our feet. Happy.

I too have had some really good bargains from Charity shops. One of the best was many many metres of new Laura Ashley curtain material and a pair of very long badly sewn curtains , in the very pretty  “ May rose “material .
All for £3 honestly .
After all, this outfit has obviously not been worn - it could have been taken back to the posh Jaques Vert shop and sold as new ,we try on shoes but don’t always buy ,so they have been worn for a little while .
The reception is - weather permitting in the orchard
behind their house so posh shoes for church and wellies after!

I have found another dress, small floral print on silky material ,black background though but with  a nice ivory  jacket from “ Mango”i it looks fine, patent shoes and handbag .
Not sure what Flash Harry’s mummy will be wearing ,she is fond of jeans .,don’t think I have ever seen her in a skirt .
I must ask and make sure she has been able to afford something nice,
As I have said car trouble so possibly a big amount to sort that out .
Well ,must get on.
Look after yourselves ...Viktoria.

Sounds Fabulous, A girl after my own heart. "I LOVE BARGAINS, ME" (copy of a carpet and floor covering advert, in the N.E. England!) lol.

On the subject of fascinators, our then Rector’s mother in law, said she wanted a “ proper hat,not one  of them there fornicators!”
We did not correct her ,dear old soul.
