Wills
« on: Monday 04 August 25 15:47 BST (UK) »
Hello
I've had an e mail from a friend in Australia asking about finding wills  1600-1700 at Bourne in Lincolnshire. I haven't had any dealings with Lincolnshire, can anyone advise what to tell her
Thank you

The first step is usually to find a will index to narrow the search by date and type of record. The big genealogy sites have will indexes and there are usually some free indexes online. I find Family Search to be the best free resource for accessing very old wills. Register/sign in to Family Search (free), search on catalog under placename of Lincolnshire, England, then Probate records, then look at what's available to view.

You could also contact Lincolnshire Archives to see if they can help.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
