Trouble With Frederick Watson b. 1867
« on: Sunday 03 August 25 16:40 BST (UK) »
Having trouble with finding information on Frederick Watson who was born in 1867 in Northumberland, England. I do not know who his parents were, or what specific church he was batpised in, but I do have this information:-

-He married Eleanor Rodenby formely Blenkinsopp (widowed) in March 16th 1901, in St. Cuthbert, Blyth, Northumberland.

According to census reports, he was a boilermaker in Northumberland, and lived with Eleanor at 5 Percy Street, Blyth, Northumberland.

Eleanor Watson nee Rodenby died in September 1938, and prior to this (unsure of the date), he went to America upon a sailing boat, and left Eleanor in Northumberland. I have no idea if he remarried, or if he stayed in America.

I would like help in:-

1. Finding his baptism, and parents, --possible 1867 in Northumberland.
2. Trying to find a possible death or marriage in America that would be appropriate.

I do understand that this would be quite hard, and I have had a lot of difficulty in this, and so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thank you.

I have ordered the marriage certificate of Eleanor and Frederick over 4 months ago, and I am yet to recieve it. I do know that at this time Eleanor had 6 children (2 deceased) with John Blenkinsopp, and both of her parents, and her previous husband (John) were dead.

In 1891, she was reported as living in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, but it seems that when she married Frederick, she had relocated to Blyth.

The 1901 gives his place of birth as Burnside, Durham age 34.

Did you order the marriage from the GRO, it should not take that long to get it.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I have ordered it off the GRO. I have used the service many times before, and it seems that this time it has took quite long for a certificate to arrive. I'll keep waiting though and see if it comes.

Thank you for the information on the birth date and birth place of Frederick, this has helped me a little bit.

I think I would be chasing it if I was you.  :-\.    It could be lost in the post in which case they should replace it

In 1911 Eleanor is saying she is married but he is not with her.

Yes, I'll try and get in contact with them.

This business in 1911 seems interesting to me. Thank you. In 1911, the census shows that she is living in Cowpen, Northumberland, with her children (with John Blenkinsopp):- John (and his wife Eleanor Shovelin), George, Mary, James, Robert, and John's daughter Ellen.

It seems weird to me that Frederick Watson is not living with her. Perhaps he had already emigrated to America at this point?

Thank you

Could Frederick have left Eleanor ???  Do you know if he definitely went to the USA ?

There is this chap on 1911 census 22 Devonshire St Tyne Dock So Shields

Frederick Watson 44 Head. Boilermaker. Plater. Married
Mary Burns   49   Servant. Domestic Servant. Housekeeper. Widowed.

1921 census 41 Francis St, So Shields.

Fred J Watson 55 Years 7 Months Head. Boilermaker. Out of work.
Mary Burns   58 Years 8 Months   Servant.

This Fred may have died in 1944 aged 76 years.
